John Palmer is a Plastic Surgeon Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery based in Exeter and a senior member of the NHS department of Plastic Surgery at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

John was one of two surgeons who started this department in Exeter in 1991. It has now expanded to a team of 8 Consultants and has a reputation for excellence both locally and nationally. John has clinical and academic roles at the RD&E and plays an important part in training junior doctors and those wanting to pursue a career in plastic surgery. He  works with other surgeons to provide the best possible care for people needing reconstructive operations after many types of cancer surgery or trauma. He is the director of the South West Laser Service, which is based at the Nuffield Hospital in Exeter.
