HEAD AND NECK CANCER
Mr Martin is one of only four Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons accredited to treat oral cancer in the Pan Birmingham area. He works closely with his colleagues Mr Sat Parmar, Mr Prav Praveen and Mr Matt Idle to deliver an Internationally renowned Head and Neck cancer service based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. All head and neck cancer patients require a multidisciplinary approach to their management, consequently inpatient surgery if required is usually conducted at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Treatment of head and neck cancer may be extremely complex and time consuming. Mr Martin is happy to treat patients under private contract but emphasises that a multidisciplinary approach in approriate facilities is of paramount importance.
HEAD AND NECK RECONSTRUCTION
Major head and neck or facial reconstruction may be required following the treatment of cancer, trauma or more rarely benign disease. Facial reconstruction may require the appropriate application of multiple, varied surgical techniques. Major surgery involving the use of microvascular free flaps may be required for complex defects to maximise functional and aesthetic outcomes, such surgery requiring a multidisciplinary approach in appropriate facilities. Mr Martin works with his close surgical colleagues to deliver a comprehensive range of reconstructive techniques, being at the forefront of 3D facial reconstruction. Mr Martin is happy to treat patients under private contract but emphasises that a multidisciplinary approach in approriate facilities is of paramount importance.
Mr Martin does not provide cosmetic or aesthetic surgery, other than that required to refine major facial reconstructive surgery.
